Heckmondwike (December)
A WHEELCHAIR tag rugby session held at Heckmondwike Grammar School was hailed a huge success by organisers. Helen Gardner, who works at the school and is secretary of the Rugby League Disabled Supporters' Association, is now hoping to set up a wheelchair rugby team in the Bradford area.
Players from the only two established wheelchair rugby teams in the country, Wigan and Halifax, attended to give coaching and organise mini games, while a representative from Bradford Bulls and their mascot Bullman was also present and handed out goody bags to children.
The morning session saw youngsters give wheelchair tag rugby a go and in the afternoon it was the turn of the adults. Several students from Heckmondwike's sixth form attended. More
